Internet Safety!

Remember to stay safe on the internet. Girl Guides Australia has guidelines for staying safe on the internet. These guidelines recommend that you:

  1. Agree with your parent(s)/guardian(s) "their rules" for you using a computer, and the World Wide Web.
  2. Do not give your address or telephone number to anyone without permission.
  3. Do not give your school's name and address without permission.
  4. Say "No" if anyone you meet on the World Wide Web wants to meet you, unless your parent(s)/guardian(s) have agreed and will go with you.
  5. Do not put your photograph on a web site without your parent(s)/guardian(s) permission.
  6. Do not put your full name on a web site without your parents(s)/guardian(s) permission.
  7. Tell your parent(s)/guardian(s), a teacher or a Leader if you discover something on the World Wide Web which worries or upsets you.
  8. Please check with your parent(s)/guardian(s) before doing activities. We have tested the activities we have recommended, but some might need their assistance and some might not be suitable for all ages and abilities.
  9. We have checked the links that we have included to other sites, please let the Lones onLine Leaders know if you think any of these are unsuitable. You can e-mail us at info@lonesonline.org.au

You don't just need to think about safety when you use the Internet. Computers can cause all sorts of health problems if you don't use them correctly. Look at our Computer Comfort Page to find out how to use a computer safely.
